mail.vodafone.ie not working

A family member has been using mail.vodafone.ie for outgoing mail. It has stopped working. I did a traceroute on the address. Results below. As you can see it gets stuck in a loop at the end when trying to route to the address. Has this server been de-commissioned or can it be fixed please? If it has been decommissioned is there an alternative server? Thanks.

This outgoing mail server has been decommissioned.

The new outgoing service you can use is mail.iol.ie

That doesent make sense as I was told the opposite, i.e. mail.iol.ie had been decommissioned and that there is a problem (yet again in my years of experience as a vodafone cutomer) with mail.vodafone.ie. I even rang them to tell them the problem (I am a server/domain administrator and an IT lecturer).

It's in a routing loop. Please tell the newtork/server administrator that. Show them this:

It is looping bewteen 213.233.129.76 and 213.233.129.71 over and over again. This expplains the TTL expired error with ping.

Hi,

My phone and laptop have stopped sorking now as well. I have lots of email addreses and all are working fine, except the two eircom.net ones no longer send (they can receive fine)

This is what it says:

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Error connecting. failed to connect to mail.Vodafone.ie/213.233.128.65 (port 25) from /10.94.84.235 (port 43676) after 30000ms.

For last 3 weeks i have not been able to sent emails, and used my mobile to struggle on (thinking it was a modem problem.....)  whilst trawling the internet i now understand that your outgoing email server mail.vodafone.ie is no longer in operation. 

 

I am the holder of an eircom.net email address, Vodafone are my service provider - what alternative outgoing SMTP server do i use?

(I might add to this is dreadful service by Vodafone, when were customers going to be informed?)
